For the last three years I have helped document LiC’s summer projects by creating short highlight videos. I have also coordinated my own documentary film-making projects with young people from LiC www.licfilmproject.blogspot.com.
I got involved in the summer of 2007 through a Youth Worker in Poplar as I felt it was a fantastic opportunity and really wanted to be part of this innovative organisation. At the time, I only just returned home from University and was inspired to see young people in East London taking on leadership roles at LiC. Within my first year through LiC, I had the opportunity to volunteer in West Africa.
Leaders in Community have personally helped me develop skills in leading government funded media projects together with giving me the opportunity to make really creative films on a number of occasions. More than anything, you meet so many interesting people here and it’s a great networking environment here with lots of interesting people always walking in. Whatever I go on and do in life, LiC have played a crucial role in giving me exposure and opportunities to develop a solid foundation.
